Zac Parkes finished off his season in fine form at his first International Meet with a seventh in the 10K Open Water swim. He was representing Canada at the Junior Pan Pac's held in Kehei, Hawaii. Zac also improved his personal best times in the 200, 400, and 1500 meter freestyle. Congratulations Zac!

IRVINE, California

Richard Weinberger of Victoria took another giant step in his open water swimming career on Sunday winning the bronze medal in the men’s open water 10 kilometer race to conclude the Pan Pacific swimming championships.

Chip Peterson led the U.S., to a 1-2 finish in one hour and 56 minutes and 00. 02 seconds, Frances Crippen was second in 1:56:02.744 and Weinberger followed in 1:56:02.984.

Six rookies and four veterans represented UVPCS at Canada`s Summer National Championships held in Victoria this past week. The team, represented by swimmers Salin Bol (14), Derek Doerksen (21), MacKenzie Downing (23), Ian Mattock (19), Rachael Newman (16), Zac Parkes (16), Stefanie Schmidt (15), Nicholas Sinclair (18), Richard Weinberger (20) and Allison Wood (19) as well as coaches Ron Jacks, Peter Vizsolyi and Rod Barratt returned with one medal, four A-final (top-8) and four more...

Vikes Alumnus and Pacific Coast Swimming standout MacKenzie Downing came second in the 200m Fly event at the Summer National Championships on Wednesday evening. Her time of 2:10.10 qualified her for Canada's squad competing at the Pan Pacific trials in Irving, California next month.

Downing led after the first 100m with a 1.01 second lead but down the stretch fellow Canadian Audrey Lacroix pulled ahead to clock in at 2:09.89.
