BC Age Group and Prospects Team Announced

More Happy news - Selected off swims done at Western Champs and Provincial Champs, the BC Age Group and Prospects Team(13+14 year olds) has been announced. Congratulations to:
Stefanie Schmidt, Caileigh Filmer, Lauren McMillan, Salin Bol, and Ryan Howe.

They will join the team who will participate in the BC/Alta/Man-Sask Western Challenge Camp and Tri meet.

Rod Barratt was selected for the coaching staff to work with the 13 year old girls.

In the "oh so close" category were Rosie Moulton and Sophia Borchers.

Congratulations to all.

 
UVPCS swimmer Ryan Howe wins RAD Award

One of the "competitions within the competition" at the Team Aquatic Supplies BC AAA Championships is the SwimBC-Team Aquatic Supplies Regional Athlete Development (R.A.D.) Awards.

These were created to recognize well-rounded swimming abilities and to assist developing athletes in any of the 14 years or younger age categories at BC AAA Championships.

Team Aquatic Supplies and Swim BC present the high-scoring swimmer (male or female) from each of the SwimBC regions with a cheque for $125.00.

400 Freestyle
Caileigh Filmer (13yrs) lead the UVPCS crew off with a silver medal in a strong 4:33. Stefanie Schmidt (14yrs) recovered from feeling ill earlier in the day to take advantage of getting into the final due to a scratch. She came from the outside lane to steal the silver medal and record a personal best of 4:27. Night began with the 400IM:
Rosie Moulton dropped in a big surprise swim for all chopping 13 seconds off her personal best to take the silver in 14yr old girls right behind Charlotte Philpots of WVOCS. Rachael Newman (15-16yrs) clipped 2 seconds off of her prelim time to take our second silver of the night behind Caitlin Quon of VPSC. Caileigh Filmer (13yrs) swam to a PB for the bronze. Stephanie Lights the Cauldron

It was a beautiful day downtown by the waterfront, where crowds gathered to watch the Paralympic Torch Relay come to Victoria.

Stephanie Dixon was there to carry the torch on the final leg of the relay and light the cauldron. Awesome job Steph!
