10 & Under Championships Day 1 Recap

A small contingent of fifteen Pacific Coast Swimming athletes’ hit the water at the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre on Saturday afternoon, competing at the two day 10 & Under Island Championships.  The first day of the meet was highlighted with a number of great swims from the Bolts, as the team posted over thirty total lifetime bests. 

In the Mixed 200 Free, best times were swam by Nolan Crisp, Griffin Arnatt, Atanas Tchaouchev, Riley Andrusak, Talia Hicke, Julia Hajash, and Taryn Mercer.  A number PCS athletes' dropped over ten seconds off their previous personal bests. 

The Mixed 100 Breast saw eight Bolts hit the wall in persoanl bests.  Best time performances included Sebastion Hon, Riley Andrusak, Lucy Hallett, Bridget Rupert, Anika Rupert, Talia Hicke, Julia Hajash, and Taryn MercerNolan Crisp, Connor Mar, Sebastion Hon, and Ruby Pandachuk all swam to lifetime bests in the Mixed 100 Back. 

The PCS roll continued as Nolan Crisp, Riley Andrusak, Maya Stevens, Talia Hicke, and Taryn Mercer booked five more best times for the team in the Mixed 50 Fly.  In the grip and rip 50 Free, Constantine Tchaouchev, Ruby Pandachuk, Annika Rupert, and Talia Hicke all touched the wall in life-time bests.  The final event of the day, the Mixed 50 Back, saw Ruby Pandachuk, Riley Andrusak, and Talia Hicke adding three more best times for Pacific Coast Swimming. 

The 10 & Under Championships continue in the Comox Valley on Sunday with Pacific Coast swimmers’ competing in the 400 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Back, 200 Fly, 100 Free, 50 Breast and 200 IM.
