2014 BC Senior Provincial Championships Day One Summary

This was the first senior meet for many of the PCS crew. And it was quite a showing. Night was punctuated by a new Senior Open club record for Sawchuk, Moulton, Gowans and Andrusak on the 200F.R., and a heat and final club record Jordan Andrusak in the 200Fly.

1500 Free
Amieson King and Justin Howe opened the evening claiming 3rd and 4th with a PB for Justin.

200Free
Molly Gowans claimed some prize cash taking 3rd
Vicky Mock closed to finish 6th
Rachel Sawchuk posted her best for 14th
Lauren Crisp also swam her fastest time ever for 17th

On the mens side

Ryan Howe rose to the occasion and climbed to 11th
Tyler Smith had a strong performance sliding home in 12th spot.

50 Butterfly

Nick Beland snapped almost a second off his PB to take 7th spot

100 Breaststroke

Jenn Short had a strong race for 9th
Rosie Moulton finished 13th
Hanna Carter hung in there in spite of being ill for 18th spot

In the men’s race:

Ian Williams 12th place
David Sikli was 19th

200 Butterfly

Stephanie Horner was just out of top spot in 2nd
Jordan Andrusak was also in the money in 3rd chalking up a new Club Record in 2:22
Vicky Mock came home hard for her best ever performance finishing 5th

For the men:

Jon McKay fell back a bit on the final 50 for 2nd, just over his PB

50 Free

Molly Gowans was 8th in her second go on the evening
Sarah Galbraith went to work to establish her best time and a top 10 finish
Rachel Sawchuk, also a PB, came 14th

Men
Nick Beland had a best and finished 8th
Ian Williams was just over his best from prelims for 18th spot

100 Backstroke

Lauren Crisp swam up a storm on the final length for a PB, a new 13-14 Club Record and 2nd overall.
Molly Gowans had a stand out prelim swim and in spite of being just over her morning time she stayed in the race for a 4th place conclusion

On the men’s side:

Ryan Howe nipped under 1:00 for 5th spot.

In the final individual event of the evening..

Stephanie Horner closed well for 2nd place
Jordan Andrusak claimed 3rd, anther club record and missed the 13-14 regional record by one 100th.
Rosie Moulton had her personal best and came 5th
Vicky Mock was 6th
Lauren Crisp 8th
Anna Letkeman 20th

200 Freestyle Relay

The PCS women were ready to go and hit the water and took top spot in a senior club record

The Men (Beland, Williams, Sikli, Roos) were also strong contenders claiming 5th place.
