AA's Day 1 Recap

A small contingent of Pacific Coast Swimming swimmer’s hit the water Friday, as day one of the Swim BC AA Provincial Championships began at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Kamloops.   The first day of swimming was highlighted by four individual medals, three new AAA qualifiers, and a club record by Julia Hajash in the 50 breaststroke.

Charlotte Alexander got the first finals session rolling for the Bolts with her bronze medal performance in the Girls 11 & Under 50 freestyle.  Alexander’s time of 32.55 earned her first AAA qualification standard ever.  Teammates Trinity Aragon Scriven touched the wall in sixth place in the Girls 12-13 50 Freestyle, while Maya Stevens also placed sixth in the Girls 11 & Under 200 Fly.

In the Girls 800 Freestyle, Jemma Stevens came fourth place with her time of 10:41.12, while Teagan Hunt was close behind, touching in sixth place with her time of 10:47.61. Hunt continued her great first day with a seventh place finish in the 200 Fly, with an overall time of 2:58.64.

Misato Hiraoka, Julia Hajash, and Sabine Black finished third, fourth, and eighth respectively, in the Girls 11 & Under 50 Breaststroke.  Hajash’s time of 44.11 helped her dip under the AAA qualification standard in the event, as well as break the previous 10 & Under 50 Breast club record that had stood since 2007.  Black’s time of 44.55 also eclipsed the AAA qualification standard.

Trinity Aragon Scriven claimed gold in the Girls 12-13 50 Breaststroke with her time of 37.84.  Teammate Bijou Speirs joined Aragon Scriven on the podium with her bronze medal performance of 39.64 in the same race.
