Day Two Report from the 2014 Western Canadian Championships

Valentines Day marked the 2nd day of competition at the Canadian Western Championships in New West and it was a day of great heart for the PCS side.

Competition began with 100 Free.

The PCS girls contingent had strong representation with four girls in the mix.
In the Youth division Molly Gowans swam to fifth spot in a very respectable 57.6, Rachel Sawchuk 8th, Jordan Andrusak and Lauren Crisp 13th. Quite a showing.

Nick Beland completed the distance in 53.4 to come 14th.

100 Breast David Sikli was 8th in the youth category while Ian Williams took a big drop in time to move up to 8th in 1:06.

The evenings top highlite came in the 400IM. Andrusak smashed the field of top competitors to take gold. Her time of 4:47 set a new Regional record, sliced 4 sec off her PB and bettered the fastest in the concurrent Eastern Canadian Champs. Lauren Crisp also left her past best in the dust cutting 5 sec off and just settling shy of the 5 min mark.

Ryan Howe rounded out the PCS performers in the IM swimming very close to his PB for 5th in the Open Final.

In the final individual event of the evening Lauren Crisp was up and at it again in the 50m Back. She finished just off the podium in 29.7 marking her first sub :30 race and showing her speed is improving.

The 4x200 Free Relay closed out the racing for the night with a very solid set of team swims for our girls. Gowans, Moulton, Andrusak and Mock raked away 23 sec from the previous club best  - missed the Regional best by .5 sec and finished 5th.

On the mens side our boys were ninth. Three of the foursome improved upon their individual bests.

The score board showed our girls as 3rd of the 50 odd teams in the pool and PCS stood 5th team in the combined score.
