Good first day for Vikes at CIS Championships, new UVPCS Relay Record!

It was a great heats session for the Vikes, as most swims resulted in Best Time performances.  In general, it was the weakest of the three days for the vikes in terms of events, but seeing so many best times go down is a great way to start the meet.

Jon McKay and Ryan Howe swam lifetime bests in the prelims of the 200 Freestyle (1:50.18 and 1:50.59 Short Course) to earn spots in the B-Final, and in the Long Course final finished 12th and 15th overall in 1:53.60 and 1:55.58.

In the Women's 100 Breaststroke, Jordan Stariha just missed out on the A-Final, finishing 9th in the prelims in a best time of 1:10.31 Short Course, and finishing 9th overall at night, winning the B-Final in a time of 1:12.44 Long Course.  Sarah Galbraith swam a time of 1:11.05 Short Course in prelims and 1:15.06 Long Course on her way to 16th place overall.

In the Men's 100 Breaststroke, Brett Zollen went 1:02.96 Short Course in heats, and 1:06.54 Long Course in finals for a final placing of 15th overall.

Also just missing an A-Final, Rachael Newman went a best time of 1:01.68 Short Course in the 100 Butterfly heats, backing that up with a 1:03.86 Long Course for 14th place overall.

Finally, in the Women's 4x100 Freestyle, the team of Rachael Newman, Kaity Gervais, Sarah Galbraith and Taylor Snowden-Richardson came 11th overall in a time of 3:58.48 Long Course.

Subsequently in the Men's 4x100 Freestyle, Brett Zollen, Ryan Howe, Craig Dagnall and Jon McKay teamed up to break the Open Men's UVPCS Record on their way to 10th place overall in a time of 3:32.03 Long Course.
