Langley First Day Successes

We had a pretty good first day in Langley.. coming over on the first ferry and swimming “Shoes Off”: Joining into the meet without in-water warm-ups to add a little challenge.

Our first event up was 100 BK, Asia Trudel took on the competition and was the fastest qualifier going into finals. A good accomplishment, taking her own responsibility for her swimming as the coaches still had not arrived yet.

Maya Stevens also swam her backstroke sans coach and did a great job swimming a best time by 2.5 seconds.

Coaches arrived with the team travel kids and Taiki Hiraoka (Mr. 67 workouts in a row) jumped right into the 100 BK and swam a best time. Followed by Brendan and Nathan Chow who also swam a best time in the 100 BK.

In 100 FL Maya swam a best time (qualifying 9th), Maia Denis swam fast enough to qualify 4th in the 11&U 100 FL. Asia was back in the water to qualify first in the 100 FL as did Nathan, Brendan and Taiki.

Next up were the 200 IM best times for Fionnuala McKenna, Taiki, Mackenzie Mueller, Bijou Speirs, Maia, Yassin Guitouni, Brendan and Nathan. The last event of the morning was 50 FR in which qualified Fionnuala, Yassin and Bijou for finals.

UVPCS had a total of 14 finals for the first days finals. In the first event of the evening, Asia, won the 100 BK with a time of 1:20.89, Nathan came 3rd with a time of 1:25.42. Kaleb Lee came 4th in the 200 BR with a 3:45.92. Asia took first again in the 100 FL with a 1:26.43, Maia was 3rd with a 1:43.46 and Maya came in 4th with a 1:45.70.

For the boys, Nathan took 4th in the 100 BK with a 1:36.63, Taiki and Brendan both placed in the boys 100 FL. Taiki taking 6th with 1:21.01 and Brendan 7th with 1:24.42.

In the 200 IM Asia placed first again with a time of 2:49.6 winning her 3rd event out of 3 chances today. Nathan took 4th for the boys with a 3:13.19.

To end off the night Bijou took 7th in 50 FR with a 32.27 and Fionnuala took 8th for 14 and over with a 29.60. For the boys Yassin took 4th with a 31.12 going a best time from the morning.
Yassin and Bijou made some AA times. Bijou with 2 and Yassin with 1 in the 50 FR.
