Pan Pac/Commonwealth Games Trials

UVPCS had a very successful Pan Pac/Commonwealth Games Trials. Jon McKay was selected to Represent Canada in Hawaii this summer at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships following his 5th place performance at the meet. His time in the 1500m Free put him on the team and broke the Senior club record formerly held by 2 time Olympian Rick Say, Jon Will also join Vicky Mock competing in Canada’s trials for the 10km Open Water Junior pac and Junior Worlds teams. The selection event will be held in the Cayman Islands in June.

Mock’s performances in the 800 and 1500fr earned her some support to go to the trials as she places 6th in the 1500 and 13th in the 800 Fr both in personal bests. Teammate Molly Gowans also had a top 16 performance in both of the distance Free events.

UVPCS had 10 athletes at the trials. Other top 16 and personal best times were:

  • Molly Gowans 16th in 400Fr
  • Even Letkeman 15th 200Bk
  • Jon McKay 13th 400Fr
  • Ryan Howe 14th 200IM

The athletes set new club records in

  • Senior Men Jon McKay 1500Fr
  • 15-17 Girls Vicky Mock 800 and 1500Fr
  • 13-14 Girls Jordan Andrusak 200Br also broke the VIR record from 1994!
  • 13-14 Girls Jordan Andrusak 200IM
  • 13-14 Girls Lauren Crisp 200Bk and 50 Bk - taking down the senior record as well
  • 13-14 Girls Molly Gowans 400Fr
