Swim BC Open Water Swimming Championships Recap
Pacific Coast Swimming continued their provincial domination on Monday, at the Swim BC Open Water Swimming Championships, having swimmers win four of the six races. In the Boys 11-12 1K Open Water race, Taiki Hiraoka took 1st place with his overall time of 14:11.83. Hiraoka surged to the finish, to out touch the 2nd place competitor by three seconds. In the Boys 13-14 2 Kilometer race, Anthony Gutierrez cruised to a 1st place finish in a time of 26:14.41, close to twenty seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Artem Kuklev joined Gutierrez on the podium with a 3rd place finish in a time of 26:46.18. In the Girls 15 & Over 5 Kilometer race, 2016 Olympian Stephanie Horner took gold with her time of 1:03:28.71. Horner is coached by PCS Director of Swimming Ron Jacks, and will be competing in Rio this summer in the 10 Kilometer Open Water event.
