Vikes Add Two More CIS Qualified Swimmers at College Cup

The University of Victoria Vikes swim team bring their list of qualified athletes for the CIS Championship next February to five after Richard Bourgeois and Sarah Galbraith met standards this past weekend, Nov. 7-8, at the College Cup in Vancouver.  Stephanie Horner, training with PCS this year, swam to two 1st place finishes, in both the Women's 400 and 800m Freestyle.

This was the third competition for the team in three weekends and the swimmers showed some fatigue throughout their races but battled through it.  Tough racing schedules also added to the stress on the team throughout the weekend, sometimes including three races in the span of five minutes but challenges at these early competitions prepare the athletes for tough situations they might have to battle through at the big meets.

After this meet most swimmers will be swimming a single race next weekend for specific preparatory reasons, then the main focus will be Canada West Championships hosted at UBC Nov. 27-28.

McKay and Galbraith both had top three performances this past weekend.
