Final Night of Summer Nationals ends with a BANG!

Jon McKay again dropped a ton of time in one of his best events today, this time in the grueling 1500 Freestyle.  Coming into this meet, Jon was already the club record holder in the 1500 for boys 15-17 years of age, with a time of 16:05.39.  Today, Jon dropped over 20 seconds to finish 5th overall in a time of 15:43.91!  Not only did Jon better his own club record in the 1500, but his 800m split of 8:19.45 also took over 12 seconds off the 800m club record, previously held by Zac Parkes.

Friday Nationals Update

UVPCS put forth more great swims at Summer Nationals today!  Evan Letkeman made the B-Final in the 200 Backstroke after swimming a Best Time of 2:10.06 - way to go Evan! At night Evan finished in 20th place with a time of 2:11.73.

Bronze Relay Medal and Club Record at Summer Nationals

On Thursday night at Summer Nationals, UVPCS Jon McKay raced in the B-Final of the 400 IM, finishing in a time of 4:36.87 in 17th Place.  This marks a best time, as Jon took over a second off of his previous best!  Way to go Jon!

Aimeson King Competes in FISU Games 10km

Also taking place yesterday, in Kazan, Russia, Aimeson King competed in the FISU games 10km.  The conditions were tough, with three men dropping out before the end of the race, and one woman doing the same.  King placed 17th overall in 1:58:43.6, just edging out fellow Canadian Xavier Desharnais. 

King told Swimming Canada that the race was extremely physical, with a number of fights even happening mid-race, and he had hoped for a slightly better result.

Senior Nationals Day 1

Senior Nationals kicked off July 17 in Pointe-Clare, Quebec, with a number of UVPCS swimmers having notable races.

Richard Weinberger to Swim 10km Open Water Event at 2013 World Championships

UVic-PCS 2012 Olympic Bronze medallist, Richard Weinberger, will be competing as part of the Canadian team, at the 15th FINA World Championships swimming in Barcelona, Spain.  This year`s World Aquatics Championships run from July 19th-August 4th.  Richard will be swimming the 10km Open Water event on July 23rd and the 25km Open Water event on July 27th. Pool events take place from July 28th-August 3rd.

Aimeson King to Compete at FISU Games

UVic-PCS swimmer, Aimeson King (10K Open Water), is among the swimmers representing Canada at the 25th World University (FISU) Games in Kazan, Russia. The Summer Universiade is the second largest multisport event in the world, trailing only the Olympics. Close to 9,000 athletes from over 150 countries are competing at the 2013 Games. The swimming competition is running from July 10th-17th.  Aimeson will swim his 10K event on the last day of competition – Wednesday, July 17th.
