2012 BC AA LC Championships Results

On the weekend of June 23rd, UVIC-PCS hosted the 2012 BC AA Long Course Championships.  Approximately 350 swimmers from around the province were in attendance to compete  for medals, personal bests and a chance for a AAA times.

As always, meets like this depend on the time and commitment of our volunteers.  A big "Thank-You!" to all those who provided food donations and came out to time, officiate or provide hospitality services!  The meet was a huge success.

2012 BC AA LC Championships Taking Place This Weekend!

PCS is hosting the 2012 BC AA Long Course Championships this weekend and your help is needed to make this a great event.  Approximately 350 swimmers from around BC will be attending the AA meet and volunteers and food donations are still needed for every session.

Weinberger Qualifies for Olympic 10km with Blistering Finish

Vikes and UVPCS Open Water swimmer Richard Weinberger qualified for the Olympic Games in Portugal this morning, capturing a silver medal in the 10 km qualifying race in a time of 1:45:30.2.

After a rough start where he lost his goggles, Weinberger slowly moved up in the pack.  At the first lap timed, he was in 49th position, and nearly 30 seconds behind the leaders.  He gradually moved his way up the field to 5th place with one lap to go.

Saanich Commonwealth Place Pool Closure - Summer 2012

Our pools and deck areas are closed starting Monday July 9 until Monday September 17, 2012. This closure also includes our annual maintenance shutdown September 3-16.

The purpose of the closure is for safe removal and replacement of the large skylight system over the centre of the pool.

Day 1 of VIRs

Long course VIR Championships began today in Victoria, with PCS swimmers of all ages diving into the competition.

Lauren Crisp scored a new AGN qualification and bronze medal with her 200 IM swim, at 2:37.42.

Rosie Moulton also medalled in the 200 IM, setting a new club record and winning the silver medal in a time of 2:25.49.

2012 Tucson Ford Dealers Invitational

PCS swimmer Rachael Newman is in Tucson, Arizona this weekend, competing as a member of Team BC.  Follow her progress on our live results site.  Go Rachael go! 

KidSport™ Greater Victoria 2012 Grant Application Guidelines

KidSport™ is a community based sport-funding program established in 1993 by Sport BC. KidSport™ provides grants for children ages 5 – 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice. Results from the 2012 Nanaimo Spring Sprint

25 swimmers and their coaches made the short trek to Nanaimo for their annual long course invitational this past weekend. A few performances stood out including David Sikli achieving his first Age Group National standard in the 50m BR. Armaan Gill made his first 10 and Under AA time in the 50m FR while David Hiebert made his first 12 Year Old AA time in the 100m BK after narrowly missing it in a number of events.
