Pacific Coast Swimming welcomes all swimmers.
We believe that swimming is a sport that can last a lifetime, starting
with youngsters learning to swim and
extending through Masters, with both competitive
and fitness training groups.
The heart and soul of all competitive swim
clubs are the age-group swimmers and their coaches. Our
age-groupers learn valuable life skills through setting long-range
goals, and working steadily toward those goals with discipline,
dedication and perseverance. And, along the way, they also
learn to swim fast!
PCS coaches spend their energies guiding all
our swimmers toward their goals, logging countless hours both on
and off the pool deck. Over their combined years of coaching
experience, PCS coaches have taken swimmers to Regional, Provincial,
National, International, and Olympic success, including International
medalists, and International Open Water medalists. For coaches'
biographies, including awards, click here.
We follow a philosophy outlined by well-respected
National Centre sport scientists that regards competitive swimming
on a ladder of increasing intensity and dedication on the part of
both athlete and coach (click
here for Graphic I). Early training is about mastering
basic physical skills and having fun in the water. Next, swimmers
learn how to train. They proceed to learning how to compete
at Provincial and National levels. Finally, they train to
compete consistently well at elite International competitions.
All levels of training involve both physical and mental skills.
This model is supported by the Swimming Canada
Athlete development progression paradigm (click
