Cameron is excited to bring his diverse background of sport performance and coaching to Pacific Coast Swimming for his 1st season coaching with the team.
Beginning their swimming journey at age 7 with the Nanaimo White Rapids, Cameron competed within BCSSA until 2019 before transitioning to the Nanaimo Riptides Swim Club. With 4 years of coaching experience with the Nanaimo White Rapids, Cameron has worked with a wide range of swimmers, from new learners to masters’ athletes, all the way to provincial age group medalists.
Currently, Cameron is entering his 5th year with the UVic Vikes Swim Team, balancing his athletic pursuits with his academics. In pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria, Cameron has completed coursework covering a large range of relevant coaching topics such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor development, athletic injury prevention, nutrition, and the psychology of physical activity.
As an NCCP 101 Trained Fundamentals and Age Group Coach, Cameron also brings formal coaching qualifications to their role. He has further expanded his coaching repertoire as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the UVic Vikes. In addition to coaching experience, Cameron spent last summer working as a biomechanics research assistant in France.
Beyond the pool, Cameron embraces an active lifestyle that includes hobbies such as hiking and surfing, having previously worked as a surf instructor in Tofino. If you can’t find him at the pool or the gym, he is likely out somewhere in the backcountry or searching for a good surf spot.
