2011 BC SC AAA Championships

PCS swimmers, coaches and parents spent this past weekend at Saanich Commonwealth Place, competing against some of the best age group swimmers in the province and hosting one of the biggest and most exciting meets held in the province each year. This year, the 2011 Team Aquatic Supplies Provincial Age-Group Championships featured over 600 swimmers representing 40 teams from across the province and the Yukon. The meet was a resounding success with much excitement, numerous records and many many great performances! As a team, PCS finished the meet in 7th place overall. Congratulations to all!

PCS individual medalists included:
Kristopher Neilson (10) – Silver in 100 & 200 Breaststroke
Lauren Crisp (11) – Silver in 100 & 200 Backstroke
Hanna Carter (14) – Silver in 100 Breaststroke
Ryan Howe (14) – Gold in 100 & 200 Backstroke & 100 Butterfly; Silver in 400IM; Bronze in 200 & 400 Freestyle
Lauren McMillan (14) – Gold in 100 & 200 Breaststroke; Bronze in 200 IM
Sophia Borchers (15) – Gold in 400IM, Silver in 200 Breaststroke
Alexandra Kierstead (15) – Bronze in 200 Breaststroke & 800 Freestyle
Rosie Moulton (15) – Silver in 200IM & 200 Freestyle; Bronze in 100 Freestyle & 100 Breaststroke
Stefanie Schmidt (15) – Gold in 200 Backstroke; Silver in 100 Backstroke & 400 Freestyle
Rachael Newman (16) – Gold in 200 Butterfly; Silver in 100 Freestyle; Bronze in 800 Freestyle
Zac Parkes (17) – Silver in 400 & 1500 Freestyle

Our relay medalists were:
Stefanie Schmidt, Alexandra Kierstead, Rachael Newman, Rosie Moulton - Bronze in 18 & under Girls 200 Medley Relay; and
Rachael Newman, Stefanie Schmidt, Katelyn Hayward, Rosie Moulton - Bronze in 18 & under Girls 200 Freestyle Relay

Top-8 finalists included:
Emily Ding, Patricia Horwood, Annie MacIntosh, Victoria Mock, Savannah Moneo, and Aidan Thirkell.

Congratulations as well for new UVPCS records set by Rachael Newman (15-17 100 Freestyle), Stefanie Schmidt (15-17 100 Backstroke), Rosie Moulton (15-17 100 Breaststroke), Kristopher Neilson (10 & U 100 & 200 Breaststroke), and Ryan Howe (13-14 50 Freestyle, 50, 100 & 200 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly & 400 IM). And relay records set by Ryan Howe, Jackson Sinclair, Nival Bissoon and Stephen Olmos (13-14 Boys 200 Medley Relay); Stefanie Schmidt, Alexandra Kierstead, Sophia Borchers and Rachael Newman (15-17 Girls 800 Freestyle Relay); Stefanie Schmidt, Alexandra Kierstead, Rachael Newman, and Rosie Moulton (Girls 15-17 and Girls Open 200 Medley Relay).

Thanks to our dedicated coaches - Mark Lancaster, Ryan Slater, Rod Barratt and Ron Jacks – for helping our swimmers to reach their goals! Also, a HUGE thanks to those wonderful PCS and Vikes volunteers as well as to parents and friends from Victoria high schools and other teams (including Island Swimming, the Langley Olympians, Prince George Barracudas, West Vancouver Otters, Comox Valley Aquatic Club, Surrey Knights and Duncan Swim Team) who lent a much-needed (and much-appreciated) hand and thereby contributed to making this meet the success it was.
