2014 Canadian National Championships

Day Three Finals

The second last night of competition began with the 400m Free for the team Pacific Coast.

Molly Gowans came back from a struggle in prelim's to look a little more healthy tonight and put together a great race. The race split at 200m and Gowans went at the early B Final leader chasing her down the final 50 and finishing just behind Saroukian of Edmonton. Despite being the youngest in the 20 spots Gowans final 50 was 3rd fastest overall and gave testimony to her discipline in training and racing. Her time of 4:22.0 left her 12th overall moving up one spot.

Jon McKay also raced in the 400m Free B Final in the men's race. Mckay stayed with the mid pack and gave a great effort finishing in 4:03 for 16th place.

The 200m Backstroke dawned a bit earlier than Lauren Crisp was ready for. While her start was solid she was out a shade behind the race on the first 50 and climbed through the field over the following 100m then turned it on coming home. Interestingly Crisp was also the youngest in the field of 20 and her final 50 ranked 5th fastest of all the second swims. Her 2:21 final time was good enough for 16th place.

The team is currently in 12th place on the women's side and 31st overall and currently 3rd top BC Team.

The final day of competition begins tomorrow at 9:00 PST.
