2018 PCS Xmas Cracker - Day 1 Summary

We had a very busy and exciting day for the first two sessions of the 2018 Xmas Cracker. Lots of swimmers winning prizes left right and center for setting records, draw prizes, and best times. Lucky Lucy Hallett won two massive chocolate bars for races ending in .16, the 1500 Free (21:39.16), and the 200 IM (2:58.16). 15 and over boys relay successfully broke the club record for 200m Medley and 12 and under boys have won 200m relay, bringing home 2 confident relay wins.

Individually, Alonso Gutierrez took off nearly 2 minutes from his 1500m Free, making it 18:53:62! Eric Hedlin cruised to an easy win in the 1500 Free in a time of 15:15,.89, followed by Jon McKay, and Chris Deegan. Ethan Phillips, Zach Dumas for the top 7 spots. In 200m, Thomas Van Maren took the 200 IM Champion shirt in the 200 IM Senior Boys event in 2:06.95 and Cale Murdock won 200m Free in 1:50.19. From Vikes Padrick Mckervill won Senior Boys 50m Fly in 25.92.

For the smaller swimmers (10 & under swimmers), it was a first ever meet that ended with new official times and best times. Despite being nervous from overwhelming numbers of people and bigger swimmers in the pool, most swimmers brought home either their best time or first ever official time. It was great to see swimmers cheering for each other and seeing older swimmers preparing less experience swimmers for their races. Their improvements have proven their hard work and effort in the past few months.
