2018 PCS Xmas Cracker - Day 2 Summary

Day Two of 2018/19 Christmas Cracker was a success. We had several swimmers making best times and many making finals. The finals were very impressive, with a ton of swimmers moving up spots. One of the highlights of the night`s relays was the 15-17 boys relay, Jordan Cowan, Jacob Rambo, Michael Schmidt and Keir Ogilvie. These boys went in strong and came out stronger, breaking the club record in the 4x50 meter free relay.

In the first individual event of the night, Boys 100 Meter Free swim-off we had 14 year-old Lucas Suarez. Suarez started off the race with a bang the whole PCS club cheered him on, out in front by a body length after the first 25. At the halfway mark, he was out in a personal best of 28.34. The race ended with Suarez defeating his opponent by 2 seconds, with a final time of 1:00.90. The next event of the night was 400 free. Nolan Crisp started the winning evening off with a 4:48.18 in the 12 & Under boys event. We had a great race in the 13/14 girls. Naeva Scott-Bouris went into the event seeded in 3rd and came out on top by 3 seconds, also making an 8 second best time, with a final time of 4:24.31. Kaity Gervais from the UVic side of UVPCS won the 15 & Over 400 Free in 4:17.74. Cale Murdock also cleaned up in the 15 & Over 400 in a time of 3:54.33. In the 100 breast, we had best times by Kali Lancaster, Sydney Meldrum, Arran Roberston, Arthur Firmino, and Michael Schmidt. Next up we had Naeva and Hana Edwards come in 2nd and get a personal best in their 200 back. Taylor Richardson-Snowden, Lily Chen, and Sydney Meldrum rounded out the rest of the senior womens 200 Back final with some good final swims.

On the mens' side Nolan again won the 200 Back in the 12 & Under event. Jacob Rambo led the 15 & Over mens 200 Back for the first 198 meters just being outouched for the win coming in 2nd by .09, followed by Ethan Philips for 3rd.

Next up was the 100 Freestyle Naeva again was back in the pool for a 2nd place in a time of 59.74 along with up and coming Mariana Ponce de Leon for 6th place. UVic swimmers Jamie Hutton and Alice Gentleman came in 6th and 7th both under a minute. On the mens side of things Cale was again in up for the win in a time of 51.31 followed closely by Vike Colten Craig 53.03. Last event of the night was the 200 Fly. Maia Denis was our first finalist taking off 1.71 seconds for 7th in a time of 2:40.94 in the 13/14 girls event. In the senior girls event Sophie Lorette 3rd, Sydney 5th, Lili Kramer 6th, and Sarah Kirkhope 7th finished well. On the boys side of 200 Fly, Bill Dongfang dropped another 3:85 seconds for 3rd in the 13/14 age group. Keir Ogilvie won the mens event in time of 2:04.22, followed by a stream of UVPCS swimmers…. Austin Phillips, Riley Wikins, Bryce Molder, Thomas Chapman, and Zachary Dumas finished up our top 6 sweep of the senior 200 Fly.
