2022 Summer Games kick-off

Friday was the first day of racing in Prince George for our 15 athletes who were selected to go to BC summer games. Between heats and finals swims, this bunch managed to finish with roaring best times and top 8 finishes. 

Starting PCS off in the 50m freestyle, Elizabeth Saska went just under her best in prelims. During finals she placed 7th overall in the event. Alex Camaraire dropped .4 off of his 50m freestyle during prelims, and placed 1st in finals to secure PCs's first gold medal of the meet. Shortly behind Camaraire was Rubin Lee, who moved up two spots to place 4th in 50m freestyle and dropping .3 seconds from his best time. 

Sawer Nobozniak was up next in the 100m fly. Sawyer had dropped a second off his personal best in prelims, moving him up from 7th to 2nd. At night, Nobozniak took off an additional .45 and finished with silver. After the fly was the women's 50m backstroke. Karen Pan was originally seeded 12th, but managed to finish 7th with a .2 second time improvement in finals. On the boy's side, Rubin Lee was back in the water. Rubin took .3 off his personal best and placed 1st in the men's 50m backstroke. Just behind Rubin was Noah Hicks, who placed 4th in 50m backstroke jsut over his best time. Folloiwng the backstroke came 100m freestyle, where Saska and Avery Neal both went best times. Saska dropped .3 off her personal best, and jumped from 5th up to third to finish. Avery Neal was not far behind her, dropping over a second and a half off her best to place 6th overall. On the boy;s side, Alex Camaraire scored another gold medal and best time in the 100m freestyle with a time of 56.63. Rubin Lee was also in the 100m free, placing 8th and dropping 1 second off his best time to break 1:00 for the first time! Up next was 50m breaststroke, where Makaio McKnight moved up from 7th to 5th in finals, going a best time of 34.08. 

To finish off finals, the team's 4x50m mixed medley relay (R. Lee, T. Zhao, M. Chernenkoff, A. Camaraire) placed second by 2 hundreths of a second away from gold.
