The 4th Annual Vikes Championship Breakfast

The University of Victoria will be hosting the 4th Annual Vikes Championship Breakfast on September 27, 2011, from 7:15-8:45am on campus in the McKinnon Gymnasium. It is a great way to support the swim team and give back to current varsity swimmers.

Last year the breakfast raised $370,000. While swimming had excellent support with 65 tickets, most of these were from parents of current athletes and/or sponsor tables. Each sport is funded according to what support they receive in sales; so while swimming received $18,000 of Breakfast scholarship support, some other sports were able to sell up to 165 tickets and received 3 times the funding that swimming did.

Last year UVic swimming alumnus Stephanie Dixon, 22-time Paralympian Medalist, was the keynote speaker. As the first UVic athlete to speak at a Vikes Breakfast, she did an amazing job and if you are interested in watching her speech a link can be found at the link below:

This year 2008 Olympic Gold Medal Rower Adam Kreek will be the keynote speaker.

Tickets are available for a cost of $200.00. With the University of Victoria agreeing to match the first $150,000 in profit, an after-tax donation of $100 will net the program $300 in scholarship support.

If attendance isn't a possibility for you, there are virtual tickets available which can be purchased to help fund the team and show your support for UVic.

If you would like to support UVic swimmers you can register online at http://bit.ly/VikesBreakfast and make sure that you specify the sport as swimming, ensuring that your donation will go towards Vikes Varsity Swimming.
