AA LC First Day Report

20 Pacific Coast Swimming athletes are at Provincial AA Championships in Richmond this weekend where our distance swimmers started the weekend off with some hardware in the first morning session. Jane Maycock won herself the gold medal for a strong 14& Over girls 800 Freestyle performance clocking a new personal best of 9:49.12 while Maia Denis earned her first AAA standard and a silver medal in the 12-13 girls 800fr in a new personal best 10:28.92.

The 100 meter Breaststroke event was tonight which had Adelina Benn (11) taking the 11 & silver, along with team mate Julia Hajash (11) swimming to a bronze in times 1:33.04 and 1:34.86 respectively.

PCS next medal event was the 11 & Under 100 Fly where Maya Stevens (10) came in second in a AAA time of 1:23.77 a personal best for Maya surpassing her time from  a great VIR meet 2 weeks ago, where she was dropping time on all of her events.

Adelina came up big in her 200 IM also with a 3rd place finish in a time of 3:01.07 dropping 8.7 seconds off her morning swim. Luckily Adelina had enough team mates to swim the relays and give her the rest of the night off. We will see more of Adelina tomorrow night on the relays as well as the 200 Breastroke on Sunday.

The senior girls relay team Fionnuala McKenna, Lily Parker, Bijou Speirs, Jane Maycock came in 3rd  for the 4x50 fr relay but they were 0.02 seconds off from second in a tight race.

Congratulations to all the swimmers for their performances today as we look forward to two more days of racing!
