Age Group Champs Day 3 Chilliwack

Closing out the meet, PCS and Spartans have been bouncing back and forth over 15 points, and between each event, the 4th and 5th positions have changed hands a number of times.

The morning session started out with the 200 Mixed Medley Relay. Our team of Nolan Crisp, Annika Rupert, Bridget Rupert, and Griffin Arnatt swam to a silver medal in a time of 2:04.06. Next up was the 200BK where Kate Marcovitz dropped over 15 seconds and took home the bronze medal in a time of 2:33.85. Nolan also had a good 200BK of 2:16.72, swimming to a silver medal for a new club and VIR record by 4 seconds, just missing the Provincial record by 0.7. Alonso Gutierrez placed 8th in 2:29.61. Griffin finished off the 200BK medal streak with another silver medal in 2:20.03. The 200FL was pretty exciting with Imogen Hawes dropping 8 seconds and winning her heat by a body length in a time of 2:42.75 for 7th place.

After the ½ way 1 hour break we started back with the 50FR where Kate continued with her rapid improvements going under the 30 second barrier for 4th place in 29.97 narrowly missing a medal by 0.04. Sayaka Hiraoka also placed in the top 8 with a 7th place in her new best time of 30.90. Bridget had a nice swim for a silver medal in a time of 28.12 closing in on the 27`s. Griffin was our only boy swimming in the medals and placed 2nd in a best time of 26.49.

The afternoon session started with 200BR where Annika dropped over 2 seconds to place 6th in a time of 2:53.51. Atanas Tchaouchev shaved a bit of time off his best to place 8th in 2:45.85 just 0.01 behind 7th place. The final event of the meet had over 58 teams competing in the Mixed 200FR Relay where PCS had two teams in the top 12. The team of Griffin, Nolan, Bridget, and Kate swam to a silver medal just over 1 second behind the winning team Hyack.

PCS came out 4th overall in team scores (moving ahead of our 6th place finish in the Winter Champs) and had a really good weekend of swimming from our 13&Under Age Group Provincial squad.

Congrats to all who competed for PCS on the weekend! Job well done!!
