Comox 10 and Under Day 1

Pacific Coast Swimming’s young swimmers had a successful first day of racing today at the Sharks 10 and Under Championship this weekend. This meet is unique in that it pits swimmers against others of their own age (8 and Under, 9, and 10) compared to other meets where they may swim against swimmers either much older or younger than them. The ten PCS swimmers today ranked the club second overall, with several swimmers at the top of their respective age groups.

All PCS swimmers posted new personal bests for their short course races, with many being faster than their times long course from meets as recently as last weekends Wavemaker. For the girls special recognition goes to the 4x50 Medley Relay team (Imogen Hawes, Lucy Hallett, Sidney Boone, and Kate Marcovitz) who were 1.1 seconds away from a club record, Sidney Boone for her first official time in the 100 Fly (1:45.99, a VIR standard), Ruby Pandachuck for breaking 6:30 for the first time 400 Free (6:26.51), and Teigan Hawes for 100% best times so far at the meet and a heat winner in the 100 Free.

The boys brought their share of successful swims, with Ethan Woo and Constantine Tchaouchev competing for 1st among the 9 year old boys, Conor Poulin repeating his newfound tenacity in racing, and Hamish Gilbert placing in the top five 8 year olds at his third ever official meet.

We look forward to another day of fast swimming and competition for our young swimmers tomorrow!
