Day 3 AAs Richmond

On our final day of AA Championships in Richmond, PCS had 10 finals swims. First up was the 11 and under 200 m breaststroke, which featured Adelina Benn, who earned herself a bronze medal, and Julia Hajash who finished in 7th place. Next up was the 400 m freestyle. Evelyn Li was up first for the 11 and under girls starting out with a nice lead, but was caught in the end finishing 4th. Next up was Maia Denis who swam in the 12-13 girls category. She went out strong, but was also caught up around the middle finally finishing 6th. The last 400m freestyle race was Jane Maycock, who represented PCS for the 14 and over girls. She was ranked first after her preliminary swim but ended up finishing second. Our night ended with the 100m freestyle. On the girl’s side, Evelyn Li swam in the 11 and under final and came out gold with a personal best 1:10.60. Following up was Fionnuala McKenna who earned herself a bronze medal in a tight 14 and over race in a time of 1;03.07. On the boy’s side, Nathan Chow swam to a 12th place finish in the 12/13 age group in a time of 1:05.99.

PCS next stop is a one day meet in Duncan next weekend for those who are trying to get their 2nd and 3rd AAA time prior to the entry deadline. Followed by AAA  Provincial Championships in Kamloops July 6-9th with Open Water held in Salmon Arm July 10th.
