Day One at Divisionals

Our first day at 2022 Fraser & Island Summer Divisionals proved sucessful for our 22 athletes competing this weekend! Friday prelims started off with 20 personal bests and 15 qualified for finals. Nolan Greenwood made his provincial cut in the 200m IM during plrelims with a personal best of 2:44.49. We started off finals with Nolan & Sebastian Damian in 100m backstroke. Sebastian placed 7th with a personal best of 1:19.48, and Greenwood placed 8th. On the 13-14 category, Noah Hicks placed 4th overall, shaving just over a second off his personal best for a time of 1:06.35. Next up was 200m butterfly, where Noah Zhang placed 2nd overall with a time of 2:56.67. Zhang also dropped almost 15 seconds off his personal best, qualifiying for provincials as well! To finish off the morning, we had 8 swimmers in 400m freestyle. On the girls side, Adrina G C placed 6th, dropping almost 15 seconds off her personal best. Avery Neal also went a personal best, dropping 7 seconds and placing 4th. On the boy's side, Nolan dropped 30 seconds from his best for a time of 5:12.82, placing 4th. Not far behind him in 8th was Damian, swimming an 8 second best time and placing 8th overall. 

Next up was 50m breaststroke, where June Adler started off the event for PCS with a best time of 42.32, moving up from seeded 12th to 7th overall. In the 13-14 category, Tracy Zhao placed 8th overall. On the boy's side, Ethan Zhang dropped over a second off his personal best, tieing for bronze at 40.17. In the next age category, Makaio McKnight also dropped a second off his best, placing 2nd. Ethan Woo was right behind McKnight placing 3rd with a personal best. Kevin Yin was also in the 13-14 50m breaststroke final placing 6th with a personal best. We finished off the night with relays where the boys 4x50m freestyle relay took silver on the podium (S. Damian, E. Zhang, N. Greenwood, N. Zhang). Way to go bolts on a sucessful day of racing!
