Day Five from Winnipeg
Sunday marked the final day of the lengthy, yet exciting Junior National Champs. 680 swimmers competed over the six day event. The inclusion of the mixed relays and the format of relay Heat/Finals made for a physically, mentally challenging week. PCS stayed tough and averaged 25pts per swimmer.. one of the highest in the competition.
PCS had four individual finalists and one Relay on the final pool day.
Tom Chapman advanced to the B Finals in 200IM after a best in the preliminaries. He was slightly off his morning of 2:14 but improved his position with tough fought race to 3rd from 5th.
In the 400m Freestyle Naeva Scott-Bouris capped off an exemplary week with another killer performance taking the silver in 4:27 in 14 and U. Sophie Lorette moved up one spot to finish fifth at 4:24(15 and Over). And Anthony Gutierrez peeled off 3 seconds to finish 3rd in the B Final for 15 and U at 4:12.
The boy’s relay, (Rambo, Schmidt, Ogilvie, Gutierrez) qualified 8th with a club record but really got to work in the final to slice off a further 3 seconds rising to 5th in 3:57.
Scott-Bouris and Teagan Hunt also swam the Open Water 1.5k at Lake St. Malo.
Overall the team was 11th of 150 teams in the pool and the second B.C. team.
