Grand Prix du Quebec Highlights

16 UVPCS athletes and 3 coaches took to the sky and flew to Montreal to compete at the very first edition of the Grand Prix du Quebec July 24-27th at the beautiful Parc Jean Drapeau outdoor Aquatic Complex.

Day 1

  • Ada Chen struck gold in the 13&U 200FR, out-touching Calgary’s Alexis Yuan by 0.08 (2:09.81). She also earned bronze in the 400IM with a 4.6s drop.
  • Elodie Chernenkoff took bronze in the 13&U 200FR and 5th in the 400IM.
  • Mila Chernenkoff claimed bronze in the 14–15 200FR, while Maelle Sanborn earned silver in the 14–15 400IM.
  • Alex Camaraire placed 8th in the 16–17 200FR with a strong improvement.
  • Averie Hill won gold in the 13&U 100BR with a 1.84s PB.
  • Relay highlights: Women’s 16–17 4x100MR placed 6th; Men’s 14–15 4th; Men’s 16–17 5th.
  • Distance events: Nolan Greenwood earned silver in the 14–15 1500FR with an 11.6s PB; Owen Schroeder dropped 33s in the 13&U 1500FR for 9th.

Day 2

  • Ada Chen repeated her golden touch, winning the 13&U 100FR by 0.08. Teammates Elodie (4th) and Katie McLaren (7th) also hit PBs.
  • Camaraire set a new 15–17 club record in a 100FR swim-off (52.62) and placed 10th in finals.
  • Averie Hill (13&U) won silver in the 50BR, and Sanborn won gold in the 14–15 50BR, breaking her own club record.
  • Mila Chernenkoff stormed to gold in the 14–15 1500FR, dropping nearly 10s.
  • Relay highlights: 16–17 mixed 4x100FR earned silver; 14–15 team placed 4th.

Day 3

  • UVPCS swept the 13&U 400FR podium: Chen gold, Chernenkoff silver, McLaren bronze.
  • Mila Chernenkoff won the 14–15 400FR with a massive PB.
  • Sanborn took gold in the 14–15 200IM, cutting 5s off her PB. Chen added bronze in the 13&U 200IM and silver in the 100FL (club record).
  • Relay highlights: 16–17 mixed 4x100MR won gold; 14–15 team placed 7th.

Day 4

  • Sanborn dominated the 14–15 200BR, winning gold by nearly 4s.
  • Chen won silver in the 13&U 200FL and closed the meet with gold in the 13&U 800FR (new club record).
  • Eide broke the 25s barrier in the 14–15 50FR, setting two new club records and taking bronze.
  • Relay highlights: 13&U girls won gold in the 4x100FR; 16–17 girls added bronze. Both 14–15 and 16–17 boys’ teams placed 4th.
