Hyack Day 1!

Our first day at the annual Hyack meet where over 500 swimmers are competing at the Canada Games pool which is scheduled for replacement with groundbreaking on a new pool for New Westminister starting in 2020. The old pool is still good for some fast swimming in the finals. PCS had 18 final swims. It was mostly the girls night for making top 8 swims.

The first event of the evening was the womens 200 Fly. Teagan Hunt finished in 4 th place with a best time of 2:34.09. Next up for PCS was the womens 100 Breast where Adelina Benn placed 6 th in the 12-13 age group in a time of 1:25.88 followed by a big win by Kali Lancaster with a 1:17.57 out touching Naomi Cole from WDSC by just over 1 second. Mariana Ponce de Leon was also in the final of the 14-15 age group finishing 7th.

Jordan Cowan pulled up a great swim in the 16 & Over 200 Breast finishing 2 nd in his best time 2:35.92. The last event for the girls was the 100 Free where Kate Marcovitz took the gold in a time of 1:06.07 in the 11 & Under age group.

The last event of the long first day was the 400 IM where Kali finished in 7 th place, and Jane Maycock wound up in 5th. The meet continues on Sat and Sun.
