Jon McKay's Double Podium at Australian Nationals!

Jon McKay and coach Ron Jacks were in Australia over the weekend, competing at the very competitive Australian Open Water National Championships.  Along with Australia's best, some of the sport's top swimmers, including Olympic Gold Medallist Ferry Weertman, and World Champion Jordan Wilimovsky.

Jon started the weekend off with a great 10km Race, finishing 5th of 34, and within 8 seconds of winner Ferry Weertman.  Jon backed up that performance with a Silver Medal performance the next day in the 5km race, out-touching 2 people by less than a second to finish second only to Weertman.  The next day Jon also came second in the 5km time trial, where participants race separately instead of in packs, and compete only on time.  

Jon is preparing to compete for a spot on the Canadian Team competing at the second Olympic Qualifier this spring, and these great results show he has done some great work over the fall to push himself forwards in the sport.  Congratulations Jon and coach Ron!
