Day Two finals summary

PCS top BC team, sitting 4th of more than 50 scoring teams. 

The second night of finals was good to the Gold and Blue. Keir Ogilvie moved up in 100m Free to sixth in a PB at 53.7 in 16 and U. Cale Murdock stroked to the silver in the 17 and O division in 52.1. Ian Goodyear snapped .13 off his prelim effort to taek the bronze at 1:06.6 in the Para division.

Lily Chen dropped slightly to 17th spot in 50m Back in spite of improving on her prelim time at 31.3, while training partner, Benn, came in at 31.04, a PB, at 14th. Jake Rambo rose to his jammed packed evening of 3 individual swims plus the 4x200 Relay. His first go was in 50 Back where he improved his position from 7th to 6th and dropped 4 tenths of second to 27.2, just over his record setting form last week.

In 100m Breaststroke Kali Lancaster raced in her first national level final to a PB at 1:16.7 to finish in 15th. Laura Rincon was disappointed with her swim but dropped a scant .07 to finish 15th in the 16 and Over division. UVic Vikes', Andrea Farmer, improved on her prelim performance at 1:17 moving up slightly to 16th in 17 and over. Ian Goodyear (representing COMOX) dropped over 5 seconds rising to silver in Para.

 

50 Butterfly, featured Ogilvie and Rambo and both made good on their prelim stats with Ogilvie finishing 5th in 25.7. Rambo dropped .8 seconds  and moved up four spots to 11th, winning the 17 and over B Final.

 

The final individual event was the gruelling 400IM. Sydney Meldrum was just over her AM PB at 5:19 for 18th. Acacia Benn placed 10th at 5:11. Tom Chapman had another stellar performance (after yesterday’s 6 sec drop in 200m Breast). His prelim time of 4:50 put him into the A final in the outside lanes. He had a very aggressive front half that put him, well into the race and he sent it all the way, taking over 4 seconds off his best and snagging the Bronze at 4:39. Teammate Jake Rambo was motivated seeing his buddy best his PB. Rambo lead start to finish and stripped 4 seconds off his best to take Gold in 4:36.

 

Five minutes after completing his 3rd even of the night Rambo helped his team (Ogilvie, Cowan, Murdock) to 4th spot in the 4x200 Free Relay.
