Murdock takes top spot in 200Fr

Western Canadian Championships - Edmonton

PCS is fielding a solid team of 13 athletes here in Edmonton. The first session saw some big time drops and a solid set of racing. Cale Murdock will go into the finals in top spot in 200m Free. Jake Rambo will start in 4th in two events, gunning for the podium in 200 Free and 100m Back.

Day 1 Summary

200 Freestyle

Acacia Benn (representing KISU) qualified in 11th in a best time at 2:08.8. Naeva Scott- Bouris did not advance. 

Keir Oglivie just over his PB qualified for the B Final in 14th 200.4 Jordan Cowan also just over his best qualified 19th aT 201.70 Jake Rambo advanced to the A final in 4th with a PB at 1:57.5. Cale Murdock will start in first place in the A Final at 1:52.3 Anthony Gutierrez did not advance. 

100 Backstroke

Lily Chen 108.6 21st did not advance. Acacia Benn was slightly off her PB from last week’s Trials at106.2 and will start in 8th. 

Keir Ogilvie qualified for the B final at 14th 103.1 Jake Rambo moved up a spot to 4th in 58.79. Ian Goodyear took 3rd (in para, Representing COMOX)119.51 missing his PB by .7 and will advance to the Para Final.

200m Breaststroke

Sydney Meldrum 7th advanced to her first A Final by crushing her PB by 2 sec.2:45.0  Kali Lancaster 26th did not advance  Laura Rincon 9th advances to A Final  just over PB a 2:45.5 Andrea Farmer 246.6 advances to B Final in 11th overall.

Tonight will also feature Naeva Scott Bouris seeded 3rd in 800m Freestyle and the men’s relay with Ogilvie, Cowan, Rambo and Murdock seeded 4th.
