Olympic Trials Day 3

Day 3 of Olympic Trials saw Nicholas Sinclair competing in his second A final of the meet, in the 400 Freestyle.  In the morning, Nicholas was in a heat that advanced 5 of the 8 evening swimmers into the final.  With Ryan Cochrane already pre-qualified for the Olympics in this event, the 2nd place person would have had to go 3:48.92 or better to gain a berth on the Olympic team, a big stretch for anyone else in the field.

Going out aggressively at the front end, Sinclair fell a little bit off these pace, finishing 6th in a time of 3:55.63, marking the 3rd time he has been under 4 minutes in the event.  No additional Canadians qualified in the event.

Rachael Newman had her second strong swim of the meet in the 200 Freestyle, touching in at 2:09.79.  She will compete in her best event tomorrow.
