Pacific Cup Meets

UVPCS had a great time at the Pacific Cup over the weekend.

Congratulations to event winners Carlene Creyke, Ian Mattock, Siobhan Newell, Stefanie Schmidt, Nick Sinclair, Liz Sissons, Sage Sturgeon, and Richard Weinberger.

Our top-3 finishers included Hanna Carter, Ella Dalling, Ryan Howe, David Killy, Lauren McMillan, Savannah Moneo, Rosie Moulton, Zac Parkes, Chelsea Reader, Annika Schmuck, Eric Stein, David Vizsolyi and Allison Wood.

And, further top-8 finalists were Nival Bissoon, Sophia Borchers, Ian Brown, Eric Christiansen, Emily Ding, Derek Doerksen, Rory Hills, Alex Kierstead, Evan Letkeman, Jon McKay, Lauren McMillan, Emma Milner, Rachael Newman, Danielle Newton, Victoria Mock, Ben Partridge, Julia Schmidt, Jackson Sinclair, Tyler Smith, MJ Sorba, Heidi Ullrich and Tabitha Zammit.

In the process, Stefanie Schmidt set new short course club records in the 15-17 Girls 100 and 200 Backstroke as well as the Open Age Group 200 Backstroke; Ryan Howe set a new short course club record in the 13-14 Boys 100 Butterfly; and the 15-17 Girls - Stefanie Schmidt, Savannah Moneo, Rachael Newman and Salin Bol – also set a record in the 200 Medley Relay. And, six more Vikes swimmers - Carlene Creyke, Craig Dagnall, David Killy, Ian Mattock, Emma Milner and Liz Sissons - posted seasonal qualifying times for the CIS Championships. That brings the total to 14!

The 12 and under Jamboree also saw some great performances. Michael Schmidt placed 1st in all 5 of the events he entered and, although only 8 years of age, broke the UVPCS 10 & U 50 Breaststroke record. Other first place finishers were Grace MacDonald, Ava Tarrant and Sophie Tarrant. Top-3 finishers included Georgia Ballantyne, Ewan Barker, Chloe Freeman and Christian Turpin. Delaney Chan and Eve Taylor also posted great times in their first ever competitive meet.
