Pan Pacific Championships Trials Kicks Off Busy 2010 Swimming Season

MONTREAL – Canada’s top Olympic Swimmers will kick off the 2010 season at the Pan Pacific Championships Trials grouping 500 senior national level swimmers in Montreal from March 31 to April 3rd at the newly renovated Claude Robillard Pool.

These selection trials will inaugurate what will be a busy International season for Canadian swimmers as they prepare to race at the Pan Pacific Championships, Tri-Nations and Commonwealth Games.

The Pan Pacific Championships Trials will act as the first qualifying event for the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships held in Irvine California in August where Canada will be challenging the best athletes from Australia, Canada, Japan and the United States.

On Day 1 UVic-PCS Swimmers Mackenzie Downing, Nick Sinclair, and Richard Weinberger all competed in the 'A' finals. MacKenzie finished 4th in the 200 Fly; while Nick and Richard were both 6th in the 100 Back and 1500 Free respectively.
