Senior Nationals Day 3 - Downing Wins Bronze

Day 3 of Senior Nationals brought three UVPCS swimmers racing in the A finals, one of them for the first time, and another medal for the team. 

Both Nicholas Sinclair and MacKenzie Downing, who are preparing for the FISU games in August, were in finals on Day 3, along with Stefanie Schmidt.

Downing competed in the 100 Fly today; her time of 1:00.32 earned UVPCS its second bronze medal of the meet.  Sinclair placed 8^th in the 200 Back with 2:05.12.

Stefanie Schmidt raced in her first Nationals final tonight in the 200 back; she had a strong swim in the morning, just over her best time and ranking herself 6^th going into the final.  It was her first time up against a field as strong as this one, but 16 year old Schmidt held her own, placing 9^th in the A final.   

Rachael Newman had a strong 100 Fly showing in the heats, just missing a personal best time by a 10^th of a second, in the midst of some intense competitors.  Her time of 1:04.98 moved her up 20 spots from her original ranking.
