Sinclair wins big at Canada West championship

LETHBRIDGE - UVic Vikes men's swimmer Nick Sinclair completed the awards hat trick at the Canada West championships. The Victoria rookie added three more medals and was named the conference's Athlete of the Meet, Rookie of the Year and First Team All-star.

Sinclair becomes the first athlete in Canada West history to win Athlete of the Meet and Rookie of the Meet in the same year. Sinclair totaled four gold medals, winning the 400m individual medley, 200m fly, 200m back, 100m back, and picked up silver medals in the 50m back and 400 medley relay.
On day the final day of competition, Sinclair broke UVic's school record with a time of 55.24 in the 100m back, and led a 1-2 Vikes finish in the 200m fly. Jeff Saganski placed second, and the two also teamed up to produce a team silver medal in the 400 IM relay.
Both Vikes men's and women's teams finished fourth overall in the team standings, but in terms of individual medals, the team won a combined five gold, five silver and a bronze.
