Coaches Ron Jacks and Peter Vizsolyi and swimmers MacKenzie Downing, David Creel, Cody Flegel, Nicholas Sinclair and Richard Weinberger represented UVPCS at Summer Nationals, July 8-12 in Montreal.

The team returned with three pool medals from six top-8 performances: MacKenzie took two Bronze medals in 100 & 200 Butterfly, and finished 11th overall in the 50 Butterfly B-final. Dave, a member of the World Championships Open Water team, was fifth and sixth respectively in the 800 and 1500 Freestyle; Dave also took 11th overall in the 400 Freestyle final. With more top-16 results, Richard was 12th and 13th in 1500 and 800 Freestyle, respectively.

And, Nick took the Bronze, his first Senior National medal, in the 200 Backstroke; Nick also finished sixth in the 100 Backstroke and 13th overall from the B-final in the 50 Backstroke. Along the way Nick set a BC record (15-17) in 200 Backstroke and new team (15-17) records in 50, 100 & 200 Backstroke events.

Other team records also fell... Cody Flegel set a new UVPCS Senior 50 Free record, and David Creel broke our Senior 800 Freestyle record.

And... it was clearly a weekend for first National medals-- in the 10 km Open Water event Sunday, Richard took the Gold!!
