Stefanie Schmidt Medals at Western Canada Games

Stefanie Schmidt is currently competing in an exciting close to her season, at the Western Canada Games in Kamloops, BC.  Western Canada Games takes place every 4 years and is seen as a stepping stone to Canada Games and international swimming.

Stefanie is competing as one of 16 swimmers (8 females and 8 males) for Team BC.  The competition began for Stefanie on Thursday, with the 1500 Free and the 100 Back; she snagged a bronze medal in the 1500, with a time of 17:23.47, and in the 100 Back earned 4th spot in the field, and a personal best time.  Yesterday, Stefanie raced her main event, the 200 Back, and snagged Team BC a silver medal with her swim, and also participated in the 4x50 Team BC medley relay, which won gold, and saw Schmidt breaking 31 seconds in the 50 Backstroke for the first time.   

Tonight Stefanie will compete in her final events of the meet, the 800 Freestyle, along with the 4 x 100 medley relay.  Check back later tonight for results.
