Stephanie Dixon Breaks World Record at IPC World Championships

Rio de Janeiro – On Day 4 of the 2009 IPC World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, UVPCS swimmer Stephanie Dixon, broke the world record in the 400 Freestyle event (S9 disability category). Her time of 4:38.84 bettered her own previous record, set in 2004, by over 8 seconds. On Friday, Stephanie will be competing in her best event, the 100 Backstroke, in which she also holds the World Record. Saturday, the last day of the meet, will see Stephanie compete in the 100 freestyle.

Another day and another Gold Medal World Record performance for Stephanie! This time, the record was in her signature event, the 100 Backstroke, an event she has owned since the 2000 Paralympic Games. Stephanie’s time of 1:07.83 broke her previous record set in February, 2005. Go Stephanie Go!
