Sunny Saturday at Divisionals

Our athletes at Fraser and Island Divisionals are going strong with another fantastic day of best times, finals, podiums, and qualifers! We had just over 20 individual finals Saturday at finals. In our timed finals, Nolan Greenwood placed 3rd for a bronze in the 400m IM! Maelle Sanborn dropped over 10 seconds off her her 400m IM to place 4th in the event. We started the night off with 200m freestyle where Adrina & June kicked off the night for us. Adrina placed 5th, moving up from being seeded 13th and going over a six-second best time. June was right behind her placing 6th overall. In the 13-14 category, we had Avery Neal dropping over 4 seconds. Neal was seeded 11th and moved up to place 4th in the finals. On the boy's side, Sebastian Damian shaved 3 seconds over his best time, placing 6th overall in the finals. Conor Poulin dropped three and a half seconds off his personal best and scored a bronze in his freestyle. 

Next up was 50m butterfly where first-time Divisional qualifier Ewan Ross came 7th overall. Ross dropped .8 off his personal best in the morning, just barely missing his provincial standard. Following butterfly, was 100m breaststroke where we had Tracy Zhao place 5th in the girl's 13-14 category, dropping 1.3 seconds off her best betwen both sessions. On the boy's side, Ethan Zhang snuck in the final placing 6th with a personal best of almost 2 seconds. In the 13-14 category, Makaio McKnight placed 3rd to get on the podium, shaving 1.6 seconds off his personal best that day. Right behind him was Kevin Yin who managed to drop a whopping 8 seconds between his entry time and finals, placing 5th overall. Ethan Woo snuck in the final placing 8th with a personal best of just under a second. 

Our 50m freestyle swimmers swam hard in some tight races in finals. Adrina snuck in the girls 11-12 final placing 7th overal. From 5th up to 2nd, Elizabeth Saska went a best time, breaking 29 seconds for a personal best of 28.95 and claiming silver in the event. On the boys side, Damian dropped .4 off his best, just missing 3rd place to finish 4th overall. Just behind Damian was Nolan who placed 7th with a best time by .6. To finish off our indiviual events, Noah Hicks dropped 1.5 seconds in his prelim swim of 200m backstroke to place 6th overall. 

Lastly, our relays took it away this evening with the boys 4x50m medley relay (E. Hicks, N. Zhang, E. Ross, S. Damian) with their effortts placed 3rd for a bronze in the event. 

Our final day of racing for the 2022 Divisionals take place tomorrow. Let's go BOLTS!
