Super night for PCS

Day 1 Finals Summary.

The first session of finals was kind to PCS! Almost every one of the 13 athletes in the session improved on their prelim time and place and 6 were lifetime bests. In the mens 4x100 Free relay all four guys went PB’s to take the silver medal just behind Cascade Swim club.

By the numbers:

In 200m Free Acacia moved down slightly to go  2:11. Kier Ogilvie was the top athlete in the B Final finishing 1:58, Jordan Cowan moved up to 8th in 2:01.3 and Jacob Rambo stayed fourth in another big PB at 1:56.6.

 

The 100 Back Benn moved up to 5th in 1:05.3 just over her PB from last week’s PB at Trials. Keir Ogilvie was again top competitor taking a second off his PB at 1:00. Ian Goodyear moved up one spot finishing in 1:19.3 just over his PB in the Para event. Jake Rambo took .8 off his best to finish fourth just out of the medals. 

 

200m Breaststroke came next and featured Sydney Meldrum in her first national final. She took 1.6 off her best and moved up one spot, attacking down the last 50 to 2:43. Laura Rincon swam a very strong 150m, fading slightly to take .7 off her best, completing the distance in 2:43. Andrea Farmer won the B Final for the 17 and o event in 2:45, improving 1 second over her prelim. Tom Chapman swam a technically superior race to his prelim. His time was .2 over his prelim time taking him to 8th in the A Final in the 16 and U section.

 

Naeva Scott - Bouris finished just out of the medals in 4th in 9:22 for th 800m Free event.

 

The final event of the night was 4x100m Freestyle. Keir Ogilvie lead off in a PB in 54.2 to get the team going. Jordan Cowan took 1.2 off his best for the team in 55.1 leaving the team in 4th going into the 3rd leg. Jake Rambo charged forward completing his leg in a PB by 1.4 seconds at 53.0 leaving Cale Murdock 2nd spot to begin his portion. Cale came back strongly to clinch silver for the team in 51.3 - another PB.
