Team Canada Finishes Top 10 in the Open Water Team Pursuit

After competing in the 10km yesterday at the World Championships, Richard Weinberger joined two Canadians teammates, Aimeson King, and Zsofi Balazs, to race the Team Pursuit 5km.  This event was a first for the competitors and for Canada.

The race cannot technically be classified as a relay because the teammates remain together the entire race, rather than taking turns swimming.  The purpose of the event is to capitalize on some of the skills of open water swimming: pacing, navigation, and drafting, to name a few.  The event is staggered so that each team begins a minute after the team prior to them, the order being randomly selected.

Team Canada had a great finish in 10th spot with a time of 1:02:08.7.
