Third Day of Divisional Highlights

Our third & final day at the 2022 Fraser & Island Divisonals was an estatic day. Even in 35 degree weather, our swimmers put their best foot forward to finish off the competition with a PCS ZAP! In prelims, Sebastian Damian placed 1st in the 1500m freestyle with a massive time improvement of a minute and a half!

To start off our finals session, we had first time divisonal qualifier Maelle Sanborn place 5th in the 12&under 200m breaststroke. Sanborn dropped 8 seconds in her prelims swim moving her up from 13th to 5th overall in the event. On the boy's side, Ethan Zhang dropped 2 seconds off his personal best in the prelim session. Zhang moved up from 8th up to 6th in the finals session. In the 13-14 category, Makaio managed his 3rd medal in a breaststroke event, placing 2nd in 2the 200 with a 4-second best time drop. In the same final we had Kevin Yin placing 6th with a massive 14 second best time drop. Yin moved up from 17th to 6th overall in the event. Next up was 100m freestyle where silver medalist Elizabeth Saska placed 4th. Saska moved herself up from 8th to 4th in the finals. In the boy's 12&under final we had both Sebastian Damian and Nolan Greenwood. Damian dropped just over a second off his personal best, moving up from 8th to 6th. Greenwood was originally placed 12th in the event but after a 2 second time drop moved up to 8th. Up in the 50m backstroke, we had Eli Hicks placing 6th who dropped .2 of a second off his personal best. To finish off the individual events, Noah Zhang moved up from 16th to 6th with an almost 8-second best time drop in the 100m fly. In the 13-14 category, Noah Hicks dropped 1.7 seconds off his best time to finish with a bronze in a tight race for third. Way to go for Sebastian Damian for scoring 84 points over the course of this weekend!
