Weinberger Top Canadian at Canada/US World Open Water Championship Trials

UVPCS’ Richard Weinberger was the top Canadian in today’s 10 km Men’s Open Water Championship Trials in Long Beach, California. In a large field of 47 swimmers, Weinberger took fifth spot overall in a time of 1:57:19.467. His time was less than five seconds behind that of the winner, world championship bronze medalist Fran Crippen from the US (who finished in a time of 1:57.14.728). As one of the top two Canadians, Richard earned himself a berth on the Canadian team for the world open water swimming championships that will take place in Roberval, Quebec , July 17-23, 2010. Congratulations Richard and coach Ron Jacks!
