Record-Breaking Weekend at 2026 Winter Provincials

Pacific Coast Swimming delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Winter Provincials, breaking 18 club records over the four-day meet, the most set by the club in the past five years while also setting one new provincial record.

The team started strong on Day 1, breaking six club records and establishing early momentum. Record-setting swims came from Maelle Sanborn in the Open 200m Breaststroke (2:25.06), Alex Camaraire in the 15-17 50m Freestyle (22.83), Derek Francois in the 11-12 400m IM (5:10.33), and Nolan Greenwood in the 15-17 800m Freestyle (8:13.46). The 12 & Under Boys 4x50m Freestyle Relay (Derek Francois, Yamin Boamah, Lukas Schroeder, Lukas Bartlett: 1:52.62) and the 15-17 Boys 4x50m Freestyle Relay (Rubin Lee, Evan Eide, Alex Camaraire, Eason Zhou: 1:33.13) also set new club records, with the 15-17 relay team establishing a new Provincial Record.

Day 2 excitement continued with six additional club records set. Alex Camaraire broke the 15-17 200m Freestyle record (1:50.93), Maelle Sanborn set a new 15-17 400m IM record (4:46.79), and Derek Francois established a new 12 & Under 1500m Freestyle record (17:46.97). Relay teams also continued to shine, with new records from the 12 & Under Boys 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Derek Francois, Lukas Bartlett, Yamin Boamah, Lukas Schroeder), the 13-14 Girls 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Ada Chen, Katie McLaren, Averie Hill, Stella Neable), and the 15-17 Boys 4x100m Freestyle Relay.

On Day 3, three more club records fell. Alex Camaraire delivered a standout swim in the 15-17 100m Freestyle, touching in 49.80 to break the 50-second barrier for the first time. The 11-12 Boys 4x100m Medley Relay (Lukas Schroeder, Derek Francois, Yamin Boamah, Lukas Bartlett) and the 15-17 Boys 4x100m Medley Relay (Rubin Lee, Eason Zhou, Joshua Lyu, Alex Camaraire) also added another record to the books. 

The meet finished with two final club records on the fourth night, bringing the total to 18 records for the weekend. Maelle Sanborn set a new 15-17 200m IM record (2:14.41), while Derek Francois broke the 12 & Under 400m Freestyle record with a time of 4:31.82.

Across the meet, PCS athletes delivered 121 personal best performances, earning 19 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals. The team maintained a strong performance in the standings throughout the competition, finishing second overall in the combined team scores.
