Day 3 of AAA Provincial Championships - Canadian Age Group Record Set and PCS Extend the Point Total Lead after Monster Day

PCS had nearly 40 swims in the finals of Day 3, most of which were in the A finals.  These performances put the team in a great position heading into the fourth and final day of competition, looking towards winning the Provincial Championships as a team for the third time in a row.  The most exciting performance of the night was that of the Boys 12&U 4x200 Freestyle relay - Anthony Gutierrez, Brendan Fitzpatrick, Keir Ogilvie and Michael Schmidt - breaking the National Age Group Record in a time of 9:08.65.

FISU Games Has Begun; Jon McKay and Stephanie Horner Putting Up Good Times

The third day of FISU games are under way and already PCS swimmers Jon McKay and Stephanie Horner have begun performing at a high level.

Yesterday Stephanie swam the 1500 Freestyle. She was chosen to represent Canada at the FISU games in the Open Water 10km event (to be held in a few days), but decided to swim this event as well. She swam well, finishing in a time of 7:17.63, good for 15th place overall.

Day Two Hot in the Pool

The second day of competition at Saanich Commonwealth pool was hot and humid ...and fast for the PCS athletes. After Day Two, PCS remains out front in the team score over 100 points ahead of rivals Richmond Rapds and Island Swimming.

PCS On Top on Day One!

Hot and sticky is how the first day felt at the 2015 Provincial Champs. And Pacific Coast Swimming were both of those. A lot of hot swimming in the pool and a lot of sticking to the plan at hand nudged PCS to the day one team score lead just ahead of Richmond Rapids...by a scant 2 points. The weekend will be a great race for the team title.

Records began falling in the morning for PCS with a new mark for Jessica Luo for 13-14 girls 50m FL (29.51) and continued in finals in the evening:

PCS Summer Swimming Camps

Only two weeks left until the first day of Swimming Camp! Kick off your summer with lots of time in the pool as well as beach trips, rock climbing, and other fun activities! Camp runs 9am-4pm, Mon-Fri from July 13th-17th. Ages 8-12, Lightning Fast level 3 and up. Sign up before all the spots are filled!

2015 AA Championships - Third and Final Day

The final day of provincial AA competition saw 2 more podium finishes for PCS swimmers.

Emily Laidman (14) claimed the second place silver medal in the Girls 14&O 100m BR in a time of 1:23.73. And Riley Tesch (17), returning to the pool where her swimming career started 14 years ago as a toddler in the wading pool, won the Girls 14&O 100m BR bronze medal in a time of 1:24.92.

Congratulations swimmers and coaches for a great weekend of swimming in Kamloops! Next up, AAA's in our home in just 3 days!

AA LC Champs: Day 2

The 41 degree weather did not stop Kathryn Lee (12) from qualifying for the AAA championships next weekend.  This morning Kathryn raced to a new time of 1:15.54 in her 100 Fly, and would go on to win the event later in finals. Nathan Chow (10) swam a huge best time on the anchor leg of the 14&U Boys relay to hold on to the bronze medal with teammates Miyu Dobashi (14), Brendan Chow (12), and Ben Gyorkos (14).  The final day of racing is tomorrow.

AA LC Champs: Day 1

The hot weather didn't stop the small PCS contingent from some best times and a couple of trips up to the podium today in Kamloops.  This morning, Trinity Aragon-Scriven (11) shaved off half a second in her 50 free to get her second AAA time, qualifying for the big meet next weekend.

AAA Update from SwimBC

Good day, Coaches.

As mentioned in the note sent out on Tuesday along with the Psych sheets, we are looking at around 720 swimmers at AAA Champs, with the potential for some more yet who may qualify out of AA Champs this weekend.

Therefore, after consulting with BCSCA, we will make the following adjustments to the meet:

Hey PCS Families!  It is 11 days to AAA's and one of the most exciting swim events of the season for our club and swimmers. We are the defending champions and we have our largest team ever qualified for race day.

On behalf of SwimBC, Pacific Coast Swimming is also the host of this year's event and we need everyone's help to make this the best AAA's ever.
