2014 Hyack Youth Festival - Day 1

The swimmers competing at the Hyack Youth Festival had a successful first day. There are 452 swimmers in the meet.

The first morning session was very good to the Pacific Coast swimmers with all but four swims best times LC. 80% best times in the morning is very good practice in preparation for VIR, AAA, and Age Group nationals. These events require good morning swimming to make the finals.

The evening session started with 4x50 medley relay. Our one relay 13/14 girls placed 4th.

Our next swimmer was Michael Schmidt in his 100 Fly placing 3rd with a best time of 1:15.91.

The 100 Breast for girls had Sophie Tarrant placing 3rd in 1: 20.81, Jessica Luo 8th, in 1:24. 79, and Victoria Von Sacken Nash swimming in the consolation finals.

Michael swam to first place for 11&U boys and a new club record in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:54.75.

Next up was the 100m Free with Jessica Luo placing 6th in a best time of 1:05.04, Erin Jennings, Fionnuala McKenna, and Anya Pasemko swimming in the consolation finals.

Michael was up on the blocks again in the 200m Free placing 2nd in a time of 2:29.93 within a second of his a.m. swim.

400 IM was the final event for PCS having Sophie place 6th in the 12/13 year old girls in a time of 5:27.92 dropping 2 seconds off of her best time in the a.m. session.
