AA's Day 2 Recap
Pacific Coast Swimming was back at it on Saturday for day two of the Swim BC AA Provincial Championships taking place in Kamloops. The day was highlighted by another three individual medal performances, as well as a number of AAA qualifications by the small contingent competing at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.
Jemma Stevens got the second night of finals off on the right foot for the Bolts with her silver medal performance in the Girls 12-13 100 Free. The race saw her claim her third AAA qualification standard with her time of 1:05.37. Stevens was back at it with the double on the night in the Girls 12-13 400 Free beside teammate Teagan Hunt. Stevens touched the wall in 5:01.51 in a tight race to claim her second silver medal of the evening, while Hunt touched in seventh place in a time of 5:13.04.
In the Girls 11 & Under 200 Breaststroke, Misato Hiraoka recorded an overall time of 3:25.22 to claim fourth place, while teammate Sabine Black finished seventh in a time of 3:30.73. Bijou Speirs touched the wall in 3:11.89 in the Girls 12-13 200 Breast, finishing eighth place overall.
Kealey Scott out touched two opponents to claim a silver medal in the Girls 14 & Over 100 Fly, with her time of 1:10.48. In the Girls 11 & U 100 Fly, Maya Stevens swam to a seventh place finish touching the wall in 1:32.47.
Pacific Coast Swimming finished off the night with a fourth place finish by the Girls 12 & U 200 Medley Relay, and a seventh place finish in the Girls 14 & U 200 Medley Relay. The 12 & Under team of Emma Atwell. Trinity Aragon Scriven, Teagan Hunt and Jemma Stevens touched the wall in 2:24.78, while the 14 & Under team of Jane Maycock, Bijou Speirs, Kealey Scott, and Trinity Aragon Scriven touched in 2:20.66.
The Swim BC AA Championships wrap up Sunday with the 200 Free, 100 Breast, 200 Back, 50 Fly, and 400 IM all scheduled for the final day of competition. The Bolts will next turn their attention to the AAA Championships taking place July 6th through 10th at Saanich Commonwealth Place.
