AA's Day 3 Recap

The last day of racing in Penticton was full of gutsy performances from PCS swimmers. Many swimmers were still racing to best times in the morning and moving up to get into second swims in the evening. The 50 Fly in the morning saw Adele Bibault finish with a slight best time in 4th place (14o Girls), and Fionnuala McKenna wound up 12th (14o Girls) with a strong effort. On the boys side Kaleb Lee was 11th (11u Boys), and Achintya Chaudhari was 13th (14o Boys).

Mackenzie Hepner started the last finals session with a bang achieving her third AAA time in the 200 Fr to qualify for AAA Provincials and winning the gold medal (12-13 Girls) knocking another 3 seconds off her best time set by 9 seconds in the morning. Also in the 200 Fr Taiki Hiraoka swam to a 7th (12-13 Boys) place finish and David Hiebert was 11th (14o Boys) in a best time.

Misato Hiraoka swam a strong race to finish in 4th place (11u Girls) with a best time, Hepner was 13th (12-13 Girls) also in a best time and followed closely by Trinity Aragon-Scriven who was 14th in the same final. Lee and Arran Robertson swam to 7th and 8th place (11u Boys) after Robertson qualified achieving his second AAA time in a swim-off at the end of the morning session. Chaudhari was 8th (14o). Another exciting moment of the night saw Naeva Scott-Bouris swim to her third AAA time (11u Girls) in the 200 Bk qualifying for Provincials and earning herself a bronze medal on route.

The last event of the meet was the 400 IM. Maia Denis placed 6th (11u Girls), Sydney Meldrum placed 10th in a very exciting finish of the 12-13 Girls B final, Taiki Hiraoka also swam a hard-fought race to place 4th (12-13 Boys) and Brendan Chow was our last swimmer of the meet finishing 15th with a solid personal best time (12-13 Boys).

On Day 2 the 50 Bk results were omitted. Scott-Bouris achieved her second AAA time standard finishing 7th, and Meldrum was 4th in a personal best time.

Great job all weekend PCS swimmers, congratulations to the medallists and new AAA qualifiers! Check out some photos from the weekend on Twitter and Facebook.
